NO TIME TO EXPLAIN
Just get in the llama

Okay I’m just going to say this the way I would if I rolled down my window while driving past you blasting Salt-N-Pepa:
WHO WANTS TO HANG OUT IN PERSON, NOT JUST ON THIS BLOG, AND PULL AN ALL-NIGHTER, RUN AROUND IN THE WOODS, ROLL AROUND IN THE MUD, AND SHARE SNACKS LIKE WE’RE IN KINDERGARTEN AGAIN?
Because that’s basically Dirt Circuit.
Last year, Ben did it with some of his good friends and coworkers—Cole Sager, Jamison Price, a bunch of the COMPTRAIN team, and several COMPTRAIN athletes. And when I say they “did an event,” I don’t mean show up, compete, leave. I mean they created a full-blown situation.
A 24-hour adult sleepover meets endurance race meets hot mess express.
There were moments of “this is amazing.” There were moments of “why are we doing this.” There were definitely moments of “who am I right now.” And somehow, it turned into one of those experiences that keeps coming up over and over again. Not because of results, but because of how it felt.
This year, we’re doing it again.
And when I say “we,” I mean WE.
COMPTRAIN is partnering with the event again, which means we’re basically building our own little village out there. Our people. Our space. Our chaos. Running loops, cheering each other on, taking turns, laying on the ground questioning life, then getting back up and doing it again.
And we are officially, unofficially declaring an official pit crew.
Is it a real thing? No. Are we doing it anyway? Absolutely.
Snacks, chairs, encouragement, mild delusion at 2am. All of it.
Also, what happens at DC… stays at DC. And that feels important.
Here’s the actual info, which is really just the container for the fun. Panther Creek State Park in Morristown, Tennessee. September 19, 2026. You can run solo if you’re feeling bold, build a team which is highly recommended, or just come and plug into the group and the pit crew chaos. There are 3, 6, 12, and 24-hour options, which basically means there is a version of this that works for you.
I’m doing it with Maya and Jonah, which already guarantees this will land somewhere between “core memory” and “questionable life decisions,” which, if we’re being honest, is usually where the best stuff lives.
And this is the part I keep coming back to.
So many of you read this from all over—different states, different countries—and we never actually get to be in the same place. We connect here, but we don’t get to experience something together in real life very often.
This is that chance.
To meet, to hang, to struggle a little together, to be part of something that’s just a little chaotic, a little uncomfortable, and somehow really meaningful at the same time. The kind of thing that creates all the perfectly awkward moments you laugh about later.
Also, and I feel like this is important, this is a perfect excuse to make a whole weekend out of it. Fly in, grab your people, do the event, and then maybe sneak in a quick Nashville stop on the way home. But we’re in our hotel rooms by 8pm, obviously.
Which, if you’ve ever been to Nashville, you know is actually perfect timing because they start partying at like 8am. I’ve seen it with my own eyes. And honestly, day drinking is better for your sleep than night drinking, so this is really just a wellness decision.
Between now and then, we’ll all kind of be training toward it together. Nothing super rigid, nothing complicated, just knowing that other people are showing up for the same thing at the same time. And that alone tends to change how you show up.
We’re also loosely, unofficially floating the idea of a COMPTRAIN x HBU Dirt Circuit shirt or sweatshirt. I’m feeling something with a llama. Not officially a thing yet, but also kind of a thing. The kind of piece you all wear there and then keep wearing after. The kind where one day you’re in an airport, you see someone else wearing it, and it’s immediately like, wait… you were there? You’re my people.
I know the first reaction for a lot of people will be that this doesn’t make perfect sense. The schedule, the travel, the logistics. Totally fair.
But also, since when do the best things make perfect sense ahead of time?
If this made you smile, if you can picture yourself in it, if part of you is like “this would actually be really fun,” that’s usually your answer.
Pull in a friend, your spouse, your training partner, your kid. Or come solo and plug into us. You will not feel alone out there.
We’re going. Ben, Cole, Jamison, the COMPTRAIN crew, and hopefully a lot of you.

Come hang.
Let’s do something a little ridiculous together.
Those are usually the best kind.

Let's. Freaking. Go.
I do not think the state park can contain all the personality we're about to put in it.
Is there room service?
